Bitcoin Non-Profit Co-Founder Reacts To An FBI Subpoena Concerning the Activities Of Developers

Mike Schmidt, co-founder of the non-profit organization Brink, disclosed that the FBI has subpoenaed the personal information of Bitcoin core developers active in 2022 in connection with a malware incident involving Bitcoin developer Luke Dashjr, who lost approximately 216 BTC.

Mike Schmidt, co-founder of the non-profit organization Brink, disclosed to BlockBeats that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) requested the personal information of active Bitcoin core developers in 2022 via subpoena. Reportedly, the subpoena is associated with the assertions put forth by Luke Dashjr, a Bitcoin developer, who claimed to have suffered a loss of around 216 BTC due to a malware incident.

 

Schmidt has expressed his lack of knowledge regarding particulars pertaining to the investigation. Moreover, it remains uncertain whether the subpoena is directed at a particular suspect or serves as an instrument for amassing information in general. The FBI has been furnished with the participants' names, surnames, GitHub IDs, and email addresses by him.
